Edge cases and common compliance mistakes
- The compliance page must declare ALL RF modules in the product. A smartwatch with BLE + NFC must list both modules, not just the primary one. Undeclared modules are one of the most common causes of rejection in SUBTEL audits.
- Bluetooth coexists with 2.4 GHz WiFi in the same ISM band. Products with both modules must present separate test reports per technology — a single report labelled '2.4 GHz wireless' is insufficient.

- Yes. Since February 22, 2026, every device with a Bluetooth module sold in Chile must display a QR code linking to a public compliance page under Resolution 737. This includes true wireless earbuds, over-ear headphones, speakers, Bluetooth keyboards and mice. They do not require prior formal certification — they fall under Track 2 (self-declaration with QR).
- Are Bluetooth Classic and BLE certified differently?
- No. Both are covered by the same literal j.1 of Resolution 1985 and follow the same compliance path under Resolution 737: public page with QR, no prior formal certification. The technical difference (Classic uses BR/EDR hopping over 79 channels, BLE uses 40 channels with lower power draw) shows up in the test report but does not change the regulatory regime.
- What is the maximum Bluetooth power allowed in Chile?
- Literal j.1 allows up to 1 W (30 dBm EIRP) on the 2.4 GHz band. In practice, commercial Bluetooth stays far below that: Class 1 reaches 100 mW (20 dBm), Class 2 up to 2.5 mW, Class 3 up to 1 mW, and BLE typically runs at 10 mW. All are comfortably within the limit.
- Does a WiFi + Bluetooth product need one compliance page or two?
- One page only, but it must explicitly declare both RF modules and attach separate test reports per technology (one for WiFi, one for Bluetooth). The 'Modules' field cannot be empty or show '-' when modules are actually present: this is one of the most common audit rejection reasons.
- Do Bluetooth smartwatches require an importer with a Chilean legal address?
- Yes, no exceptions. SUBTEL's OIRS was explicit in December 2025: every device regulated by Resolution 737 requires a manufacturer, importer or representative with a legal domicile in Chile. There are no exceptions for consumer products, OEM electronics, or industrial equipment.
