Edge cases and common compliance mistakes
- WiFi 6E (6 GHz) in Chile is only authorized for indoor use with integrated antennas. Routers with removable external antennas or SMA/RP-SMA connectors on the 6 GHz band do not meet the updated literal j.1 and must declare only 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz on their compliance page.
- The UNII-1 band (5150-5250 MHz) is also indoor-only. Outdoor equipment operating in that band is non-compliant, even though other 5 GHz sub-ranges do allow outdoor use.
- Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) on UNII-2A and UNII-2C is the manufacturer's responsibility: if the device cannot detect weather and airport radars, it cannot declare those bands as supported.
