Certificación Telecom acts as local representative in Chile for foreign manufacturers and companies that sell wireless devices in the country without a Chilean entity. We appear with our domicile on the device's compliance page, which is where the standard requires a responsible party with legal domicile in Chile. It is a service we already provide to direct manufacturers, and that international compliance agencies resell to their own clients.
The standard requires that there be a manufacturer, an importer or a representative with legal domicile in Chile. It is a disjunction, and that is the key: it is enough that one of the three exists.
If you sell through a Chilean importer or distributor, that importer satisfies the requirement and you do not need to hire us as your representative. If instead you sell directly from abroad, export to several Chilean customers with no single importer, or your distributor does not want to appear as the responsible party, that is where we come in.
Para todos los efectos, el fabricante, importador o representante debe tener domicilio legal en Chile en orden de comercializar los equipos o dispositivos regulados por la Resolución. No existen excepciones.
For all purposes, the manufacturer, importer or representative must have a legal domicile in Chile in order to market the equipment or devices regulated by the Resolution. There are no exceptions. (Unofficial translation.)
We put this question directly to SUBTEL's OIRS in December 2025, because it came up in almost every project with a foreign manufacturer. The answer was explicit that there are no exceptions: not for OEM modules, not for industrial equipment, not for products the end user never handles.
We take on the role of representative in Chile for the purposes of Resolution 737, and we appear as such in the information the standard requires you to publish.
The scope is limited to Resolution 737 and we put that in the contract. Being your representative for telecommunications purposes does not make us your counterpart for everything else.
If you are planning a large deployment in Chile, a legal review before signing is worth it: a representative's exposure in an inspection is not the same with two devices as with thousands of units in the field. We raise it ourselves because we would rather the scope be clear beforehand than mid-way.
Representation is an annual subscription, because the obligation lasts for as long as the product keeps being sold in Chile. We do not charge it once: open-ended exposure is not paid for with a single payment.
If you decide to end it, there is a notice period so you can replace us with another representative or with your own importer, and the devices are unpublished if representation ceases.
